Happy New Year!

The first of January is a bit of an anti-climax.  New Year?  There's nothing much new about going from one holiday-day into another.  Things are very much the same.

The first day of school, however, is something else! New beginnings, the end of the oh-so-long aimless days of summer holidays, time to get back into routine!  Happy New Year at last!

Year 2, full of happy expectations for this year, because he has his favourite teacher!

Prep, and enjoying her new wardrobe so much!
Everything swims on her, despite being the smallest size.
And hats don't fit on pony tails.

Staying home with Mummy this year! Woohoo!

Looking forward to catching up in the playground if they possibly can.

How you doin?

Looks like a friendly gesture, but really pretending to cream you with a Nerf gun.
That thing with his ear?  His Uncle WeeBro did that.  All the time.  And still does.

Wishes she could go to school, but can't.

That thought did not occur to me. At all. I just assumed she would stay little forever!!!

Hooray for back to school!!! I am rejoicing also!

Ah the first day of school is always fun! But I love the hats! Especially since students aren't aloud to wear hats to school here. Well except in the winter, they can wear sock hats but many don't.

Not allowed to wear hats! I think you've mentioned something of the sort to me before, but I must have repressed it because Wow that's so different to how we roll Mamma!

Most schools strictly enforce a No Hat - No Play rule here. A child's day (playtime!) can be ruined by forgetting a hat! My sister gave me the brilliant idea of packing a school-coloured bucket hat every day in their school bag as a "spare hat" as insurance!

Hey! HEY! How about you tell the USA (yeah, all of it!) They may want to join us in beng Sun Smart?! Interesting factoid you gave us, Mamma!

Two hats every day! This is Australia :-) high skin cancer rates, but can't keep out of the outdoors!

They look very ready! Especially Woody! Enjoy your year with him. You'll blink and he'll be going with them.

I am jealous about the hats. Girls can wear hats to school as they are part of the outfit...Boys canNOT wear hats to school. I'm pretty sure they can all wear them on the playground. It's just a matter of where to keep the hats until time to go outside.

Love the dog photo!

How can hats possibly be banned in USA schools? That's a cancer lawsuit waiting to happen.

Poor little puppy! Hats are banned in USA schools cause they are gang related..... well, not really. I just made that up. Well, actually some are, but I think it's just a politeness thing--not wearing it indoors. And we all know how polite kids are.....
