Free Printable Nativity Scene

Oooh yes, it's time.

This Christmas, I'm feeling the need for a Nativity Set. The children are now old enough and because there's been a little emphasis on Santa this season (and confusion regarding his reality) I thought it was a great time to start a family tradition that can blossom alongside The Man In Red.

We don't want to be anti-Santa. We just can't get terribly pro-Santa, given that he has featured very little in the Christmases Past of mine and my husband's.

And don't forget that we were broken into a year and a half ago. Giving a portly stranger dressed unseasonally in top-to-toe red and white free access to our home seems a little unwise. That's all I'm sayin'.

Long Story Short: I would really like a nativity set but being on a budget, I don't feel I can justify that expense this year. Maybe next year.

In the meantime, I'd like to share this with you:

You're welcome.

I think that this year, we will make this little set. I will get Anna-Lucia to help me colour it in and then I'll do the cutting. I think both Nat and Anna-Lucia would like to help me set it up, and the ruin it a good number of days before Christmas with their boisterous behaviour.

Incidentally, this is why I will get Anna-Lucia to help me colour it in, but not Nat. Below are two pieces of artwork:

Mmm. You can see where this is going, can't you? The one on the left, as you've probably guessed, was done by my 2½ year old girl, and the one on the right was done by my

So I will get Anna-Lucia to help, thankyouverymuch.

Wow, that sounds way too familiar! Funny! I love that set. So fun for the kids to make.

Love that Nativity set. You could probably mount it on to something and modgepodge if you and Anna-Lucia wanted too.
You will enjoy these mommy/daughter craft times over the years.
Good Job Anna-Lucia!

I dream of a Willow Tree Nativity (http://willowtree.info/products/nativity). Just the basic set, not the whole shebang. It's not in the budget yet, but one day... I love how understated and simple it is.

I, for one, think Nat has the makings of a new Jackson Pollock. Or Mondrian. Or some other "modern" artist (or should I say "artiste" with an "e" on the end to make it more fancy-pants?) type.

That being said, I do like the way A-L used blue in her art. Very calming.

Kiddo received a pop-out Nativity set Advent calendar/book. It is a book that tells the Nativity story, and then interspersed throughout the pages are Nativity figures to pop out and set up. As you can imagine, it is a rather elaborate set by the time you've reached the end of Advent. Especially given that they front-loaded all the big guys, I mean we're only on day 6 and we've already got Mary and Joseph out. I think by day 20 or so, it's like "third angel from the right in the choir of Heavenly Host" type characters...............

Anyhow, Kiddo is very much enjoying popping out the new Nativity set character each day (I say character but yesterday's was "the Inn of No Room For You") and thus, we have a second Nativity set being created. I actually have two other sets, one of which was given to us as a wedding present but which I don't use anymore, as we used to have a cat back when we were newlyweds who loved nothing more than to play soccer (oh, sorry, football) with the figurines and thus managed to lose several important figures along with a slew of minor ones like sheep and chickens and such. So, now we're on to Nativity Set the Second, which was a Christmas present a few years ago.

I just wonder if I'll be able to jam these cardboard Nativity figures back into the book so we can re-use the Advent calendar next year.............

Femina, I too would love the Willowtree set, however with 3 small children I don't feel it is practical :P

Oh, right. Yep, post the link to the free printable Nativity Set THE VERY DAY AFTER I've been scouring the net for a good one so that I can print it and cut it out for my little Sunday School peoples. And, having found one, and cut out four sets and coloured one (we have a great student to teacher ratio at our sunday school) There were no under 4s at Sunday School on Sunday. Mumble, mumble, bah humbug!
