We Made It!

Well, I stuck it out. This was only possible because:

1. the showers became MARGINALLY warmer, allowing my dear sweet children to ablute without screaming, "It's too cold! Too cold!" or the "Waahhh Waahhh!" screaming that tiny babies do.

2. A camp family took me to a friend's place close to the campsite to use their washing machine, and I was able to clean everything that had milk or vomited milk on it, and anything else that could fit in the washing machine.

3. Joseph decided that after his shower and his dinner milk, he would sleep for eight or eight and a half hours. And I decided to sleep as well instead of writing blog posts at that time.

For the Mother, it was a pretty ghastly amount of extra work with little payoff in the form of getting a swim, but the amount of enjoyment that the children got was worth it all.

On Wednesday, we spent the whole day at Wet 'n' Wild. [I just found out it's not worth your while to do a Google Image Search for the term 'Wet and Wild'.] Nat and Anna and their Daddy enjoyed lots of water while I stayed in the shade tent and looked after Joseph. I did get 15 minutes of time to spend with them in the water, and we went to Buccaneer Bay.

We climbed to the top of a giant wet structure, getting splashed with freezing water as we went, then shivered in the wind once we'd got to the top. I'd had to carry Anna-Lucia all the way up. Once we got there, Nat flatly refused to go down the waterslide without Mr de Elba going with him, and the raincoat-clad attendant flatly refused to let people go down other than one at a time.

So we began the descent back to the bottom, but not until a dirrty great foibreglass poirate-head-shaped bucket that had been filling with freezing water on top of the structure reached its point of tipping, and drenched us all in freezing cold water. Arrr.

That was as wet as I got. It was miserable.

I then had to go back to Joseph and discover how difficult it is to breastfeed a baby while wearing a swimming top with inbuilt support. (The 'over-the-shoulder-boulder-holder' alternative to the itty bitty bikinis the high school girls were wearing on their thin little bods.)

But Nat and Anna-Lucia enjoyed it SO MUCH that it made it worthwhile.

Oh, and after a week like that, I'm semi-seriously considering re-introducing pseudonyms back to my blog, just for fun. We all know the children's names now, but wouldn't it be cool to try these on for size?

I could seriously picture this guy as "Moe"

And this kid as "Larry"

And this one could be "Curly."

Give me one good reason why I shouldn't.

And for fair warning, if Mr de Elba and I should have one more child, their pseudonyms will change once more, to Harpo, Groucho, Chico and Zeppo.

Seriously, I think you should change their pseudonyms to Harpo, Groucho, Chico and Zeppo anyway. Just keep writing posts about crazy lil Zeppo and his antics, but never include a photograph.

Glad you survived the week. :)

Umm, about the "Harpo" pseudonym..? Could get confusing with two of them in the same extended family. I'd have to reveal MY kids' real names then! And that would make me break out into a Perverts-Are-Gonna-Know-Our-Names-On-The-Net sweaty panic.

So go for the Stooges!

Oh BLEARGH. Blogger just ate my comment, and now I've got a kid wanting breakfast and a dog wanting Fetch assistance.

Suffice it to say it was hilarious, touching and brilliant. The best blog comment EVER.

:D

Back later! (I hope...)

Yarrrr! I remember visiting that Bucaneer Bay. Ye must have had the same scallywag guard on as we.

Hooray for washing machines! (that sounds so sick and twisted, huh!)

I'm so glad you made it, and that things got better. Eight hours!!! Good boy, Joseph! He deserves some chocolate milk. :-)

You are a brave woman.
Glad Moe and Larry enjoyed their time at the water park and Curly enjoyed the long snooze.

I totally buy Moe and Larry, but I think Curly might need to grow into his name a bit. (Not too quickly though...)
