No Wonder!

What do I do all day?

I am not working at the moment. I stay "at home" all day, but it is not a life of leisure. When I wake up in the morning start cleaning bottoms, cleaning the dinner mess from last night, cleaning the floor, cleaning clothes, tidying the kitchen, tidying the bedroomos, tidying the floors ... On and on it goes.

Yet the place always looks pretty messy.

I've worked out that when you take the amount of cleaning I've done in the day, and subtract the amount of messing that my family goes about each day, we always finish up "in the red."

Scenario 1: Chasing my tail

Scenario 2: Close, but no choc-chip bikkie

Scenario 3: Using my freedom to run errands around town instead of cleaning the house

Even on a good day, I end up in the red.

Sigh.

Still.

I have a good mop and a good broom, and the children only have one childhood.

I hear you. Forget about it.
Have fun and let them have fun.

I use to wonder why I rarely had to buy cleaning products. It was because I wasn't using the ones I already had. hmmmmm.

To me cleaning is just not worth it. The house always gets messy again.

THis just it... they DO only have one childhood! Enjoy it. The years fly by, before you know it, it will be just you & Mr dE and there will be plenty of time for a clean house.. although, thats when the grandkids will come for a visit & you will be back to square 1.... But who cares.

I am thinking of making a sign for my front door that says " I wont appologise for the mess. My kids had fun!"

Isn't there some saying that goes something like "an untidy home is the sign of a happy and loving family?" I'd like to think so, anyway.

Just think: red is the colour of love, non? If you're always in the red, you're feeling the love.

It's depressing. But "just leaving it" is not an option, unless you can buy a new set of cups and plates every week, and want rats living in the house, eating child poo straight off the carpet.

Just imagine if, when you wanted lunch, you'd bypass the rotting kitchen to get takeaway, swept the dining table clear with your arm, and just wore gumboots to wade through the filth.

Hmmm. Probably you're doing an excellent job with your cleaning if you're not at that stage! Maybe invisible results are the best results when it comes to house cleaning? You can go to bed happy that your house wasn't featured on A Current Affair as marked for demolition by the town council.

Yes, exactly! I think it was Erma Bombeck who said, "Cleaning your house while your children are living at home is like shoveling your driveway while it's still snowing."

Love the chart! May have to create my own! I just love it when my husband asks what I did all day!
