It's great having principles ...

... but somedays, sitting little children and their cousins down in front of the TV saves your entire sanity.
PS "Anne," I can't contact you any other way than this. I wanted to say don't worry. I'm certainly taking it very easy right now, and a quick look around my house would confirm that for you! I have never before had so many signals from my body to slow down, and I do listen to that, I really do. Should you be in my area any time soon, feel free to pick up a load of washing or ironing. While you're here, could you vacuum and sweep a few floors for me? Throw a tennis ball to the dog 20 times? Push Smoochy in her beloved "Red Swing" a bit? Accompany Sonny across the road to ask if Jack can come a play? These are the things that are sadly getting ignored chez de Elba these days. But never fear, I am resting - a lot :) Thanks for your concern :)

Hey, you gave them a blanket AND a couch and beanbags - that shows you put in an effort! A bit of TV won't hurt them, and having a sane Mummy/Aunty is a good thing.

Lol, this is Anne here...If only I could come and help I would, but I'm afraid I am many miles away in the UK!! (wonder if there are any cheap flights once the school year has finished?) I can't remember how I found your blog but I check in fairly regularly and you mostly make me laugh(and cry a bit and pray) and I just love your kids. My grands are 13, 12, 7 and 8,(all girls) but that doesn't mean I forget the trials and tribulations!! Needless to say I have relatives in Australia....some in Adelaide (long since lost to us I'm afraid) some in Sydney, and some new found ones in the Rockhampton area of Queensland.!!
Hey if you have read this far, congratulations.!! One day I will create a blog...um I have at least recently found Facebook, thanks to my daughter.....meanwhile, I hope your winter is ok......our summer is being hot...take care, and you just write whatever you feel like on here.
god bless

Now that looks like a lovely thing to be doing on a winter's afternoon.

I cringe at the thought of how many hours my own darling daughter spent curled up on the couch in front of the TV screen over this past long (holiday) weekend...... Hubby and I were busy trying to get her room re-done, so stripping wallpaper, sanding drywall and painting - none of which activities are suitable to a six year old's "help" of course.

But you know what? As far as I could tell when I dropped her off at summer camp this morning, her brain hadn't totally rotted out. I mean, I checked the pillowcases and sheets but there was nary a drip o' gray matter to be found. Whew.

:D xoxo

Quiet children suggled in front of the TV is a wonderful thing. :)

This has always worked for me and still does. We moms have to keep this principal to keep from loosing other important qualities. ;)

There are times when rules must be bent if not broken. Take care of yourself, my friend!
