Breakfasts are getting better

Breakfast has traditionally been a ghastly time for me. It's always far too early in the morning, the children are demanding regarding what they eat and how quickly it is served, they make a terrible mess, I am required to get up from the table about 10 times and therefore am not permitted the dignity of eating my own breakfast, and I am extremely tired and grumpy. Extremely.

When breakfast is over and the place is reasonably tidy, I expect the children to leave me in peace so I can eat something by myself. This never works out.

But for $40 I have bought The Red Table and Chairs, and this has transformed my breakfast time.

The Red Table and Chairs belong out on the front deck. I prepare the breakfast and serve it outside, then sit down to quietly eat my own. The cleanup is a dream. In fact, if I take the bowls away and give the kids a small bucket of warm soapy water and some cloths, they do it themselves.

I love it!

Yes I am all too aware that breakfasts will be falling apart again, at least when Thingamababy comes in August, but most probably before that when the weather is too cold (especially in Toowoomba) to eat outside.

breakfast is the most important meal of the day they say - and what better way to eat it than sitting on such a great red table and chairs?

I am not brilliant at "eating" breakfast but a Berocca does count as breakfast - right?

Hey stranger! Love the red table idea. May have to institute an outside breakfast rule of my own...

Congratulations on thingamababy. Looks like I've got some catching up to do!

Great idea--it's even better that they will clean it themselves.

Now that set-up looks downright pleasant! Look at those well-behaved children, almost like catalogue models. They make the Red Table and Chairs look like a steal at $40! Only $40 for some sanity in a mother's life? Yahoo!!

Hope it lasts longer than you think. ;)

Great idea.

Are you certain it will be too cold in winter in Toowoomba? You just might have to clean the sliding door after the desperate, cold, little fingers trying madly to get back through the locked door to escape the cold. But you'll be warm and peaceful.

Excellent idea :-) But hey, when it gets too cold, just get a wooden table and chair set from Ikea and put it inside. Same trick ;-)

The nicest part about plastic tables is that they can be hosed down. :)

What a nice breakfast nook for the kiddos! We had a little table and chairs that were used for kids' meals quite often (we had to retire it just recently as their knees bump the underside now.)

It was so nice to have a place for them to eat together nicely if we were lounging on the couch or whatever. I even noticed at one point that they were washing the table off by themselves when they were done. Then one morning I came down early and heard "slurp, slurp"....the DOG had been the thoughtful one washing the table off for me! You can be sure I always wiped the table off BEFORE using it after that.
